Kinds of Contributions

We accept original articles as well as previously-published material. Contributors are responsible for obtaining permissions for the reproduction of copyright material.

Formats:

  1. Stories (max 2,000 words, not including images)
    We welcome submissions in the form of written texts, articles, interviews, opinion pieces and prose related to three core themes: Indigeneity and the Green Return, Urban Commons and Radical Economies.

  2. Actions
    We are interested in actions that require minimal resources and can be implemented in line with post-covid social restrictions. Activities should have a low threshold for participation and be able to be carried out by the uninitiated.

Editorial Board

James Finucane
James is a writer, curator, producer and artist specializing in street and outsider art. He is the founder and creative director of Street Art Oslo and co-founder of Subvertising Norway.

Mads Pålsrud
Mads is a designer, urban activist and co-founder and Creative Director of Growlab Oslo educated at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. He has worked on tactical urbanism projects since 2015 and public art projects such as Losæter. He is also co-founder of the regenerative farm Haugneset.

Astrid Fadnes
Astrid is a trained architect from the School of Architecture in Oslo and the University of São Paulo and works as a freelance architect and writer based in Tromsø. She is writing for publications such as Fett, Arkitektnytt, Kunstkritikk.no and more.

Hanne Ugelstad
Hanne is a social pedagogue, therapist and social worker, teacher and writer, specialised in working with marginalised youth groups. She currently works with art, activism and communication.

Tabea Glahs
Tabea is a multi-disciplinary designer and co-founder of Growlab Oslo. She is born Germany and trained at Free University of Bolzano and Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Tabea works with service design at Oslo kommune.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Action Stories. 

Action Stories aims to forge new connections across disciplines of art, academia and activism. We welcome contributions from academics, writers, artists, designers, architects and activists from all backgrounds and on a range of topics. 

Action Stories has an open and dialogical format. Submissions are evaluated by our editorial board but are not subject to a formal peer-review process (for now). We accept submissions all year around and publish new contributions on a monthly basis.
